Pedri is a Spanish footballer who plays for the La Liga club Barcelona as a central midfielder. The Spanish sensation started his professional career at Las Palmas in 2019 and has achieved many feats since then. After playing for the club professionally for 2 years, Pedri decided to leave Las Palmas and joined Barcelona. While in Barcelona, he won many awards and honors.

Pedri Started His Football Career In Las Palmas
He joined Las Palmas’ youth setup after leaving Juventud Laguna in 2018. A few years later, Pedri signed a four-year contract with them at 16 years of age. After signing the deal, he was promoted to the first team by the club’s manager Pepe Mel.
Pedri played professionally for the first time on 18 August 2019 in a match against Huesca. However, Las Palmas lost the game 0-1. A few months later, he scored his first goal for the club. It was a game against Sporting Gijon by 1-0. After he scored his first goal, he became the youngest player to score a goal for Las Palmas having scored at the age of 16.
His Transfer to Barcelona from Las Palmas
Pedri was signed by Barcelona on 1st July 2020. He signed a two-year contract with them for $5 million. After signing him, Barcelona included Pedri in the first team for the 2020-21 season and gave him the number 16. He played for Barcelona for the first time on 27th September 2020 in a match against Villarreal in La Liga. It was also his first time in La Liga. During the game, they scored four goals and won the competition. The match ended with the score being 4-0.

The following month, Pedri scored his first goal for the club. It was a game against Ferencváros in the group stage of the UEFA Champions League. Barcelona had a great victory against their opponent with the final score being 5-1. Lionel Messi, Ansu Fati, Phillippe Coutinho, and Ousmane Dembélé were the other ones to score the goal. Gerard Piqué also scored a goal but the goal was disallowed.
Soon after that, Pedri scored his first goal in La Liga on 7th November 2020 in a game against Real Betis. After scoring a beautiful goal, he assisted Sergi Roberto to score another goal. They won the match by 5-2.

On 6th January 2021, he scored a magnificent goal with his head against Athletic Bilbao. After scoring a header, he assisted the club to score another goal. In the end, Barcelona won the game and the final score was 3-2.
His Second And Third Season For The Barcelona
In the Barcelona shirt, Pedri won the first trophy of his footballing career beating Athletic Bilbao in the Copa del Rey. In the final, Barcelona thrashed Bilbao 4-0 with Lionel Messi scoring two goals and Frenkie De Jong and Antoine Griezmann scoring one goal each. At 18, Pedri became the second youngest player to play 50 matches for Barcelona. The youngest player to achieve this feat was Bojan Krkić.

A few months later in October, Pedri signed a new contract with Barcelona when his release clause was set at $1.57 billion. Soon after that in November, Pedri received his Golden Boy Award for being the best player in European football under the age of 21. The next week, he received another award from France Football for the best-performing player in the world under the age of 21.
On 13th February 2022, Pedri became the fastest man to score a goal in the 21st century in a match against RCD Espanyol. He scored the goal in 75 seconds of the game but in the end, the match ended in a 2-2 draw.
Pedri as a Spanish International
On 21 August 2020, Pedri was called up for Spain’s under-21 team for the UEFA European Under-21 Championship. The first match was against Macedonia on 3rd September and they won the game. The final score was 1-0. After that in March 2021, he was called up to play in the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers. His first match with the Spanish senior team was against Greece.
The following month, he was again included in the Luis Enrique Squad for the upcoming Euro Cup. Soon after that, on June 14th, they played against Sweden and the match ended up being a nil-nil draw. Pedri became the youngest player to play from Spain at the age of 18.
Pedri was also included in Spain’s squad for the 2020 Summer Olympics. Spain reached the final which they lost to Brazil by 2-1 and earned a silver medal.
