David De Gea, one of Spain’s best goalkeepers in the recent generation was seemingly happy after his country’s exit from the Qatar World Cup 2022, at least going by his recent social media activity.
Spain went back to their country after their Northern African neighbor Morocco defeated them in a penalty shootout. The defeat becomes all the more humiliating considering the fact that a team like Spain, who was one of the strongest contenders for this year’s World Cup, was defeated by a team that didn’t even dream of getting through the group stage let alone the round 16.

As if the defeat wasn’t enough, De Gea is reportedly making the matter worse by mocking coach Luis Enrique for leaving him off the squad and going with Atletico Bilbao’s goalkeeper, Unai Simon.
After their exit from the competition from the round of 16, the third time since they won the del Mundial in 2010, Manchester United’s goalkeeper shared a story on his Instagram account where the former Atletico Madrid keeper is all smiles.

Although Spain was heavily favored to see off their North African counterpart, the penalty shootout turned everything upside down for the team. From the beginning, the Spaniards were dominating the game, from possessions to shots, they were dominating the whole game.
When 90 minutes of regular time was not enough, the game went into extra time, still, the 2010 World Cup winner wasn’t able to score a single goal leading the game into the penalty shootout. Unfortunately, Spain was not able to convert a single spot-kick leading them to loose the match.
