The FIFA World Cup 2022 will start on November 20 and the tournament will be held in Qatar. This is the first time that the World Cup is going to be held in Arab. As World Cup comes every four years, many people are very excited about the tournament.
There are 32 teams aiming to win the cup but the question is which team will move forward and which team will pack their bags and go home. In this article, we are going to discuss some of the most anticipated games in the World Cup’s league round. So, make sure to stick with us till the end.
1. Belgium Vs Canada
Belgium is currently second in the FIFA world ranking and it is no surprise that they are very good. They have some of the best players in the world including Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku, and Eden Hazard. Likewise, they also have one of the best goalkeepers in the world, Thibaut Courtois. Out of six UEFA Nations League Group, Belgium has won 3 of the matches and however, has lost 2 of the matches. Moreover, they had a draw in a match against Wales.

On the other side, Canada is playing their second-ever FIFA World Cup after their first appearance in 1986. Canada is currently ranked 41 in the FIFA World Ranking. Likewise, they also have some very good players such as Jonathan David, Tajon Buchanan, Cyle Larin, and Maxime Crépeau. Similarly, Out of the last six international games, Canada has won 3 matches and in the same way, has lost 3 games.
Even though Belgium appears a stronger side in front of Canada, there is a possibility that Canada gives a hard time for the Belgians. The match is scheduled for 23rd November in the second match of Group F.
2. France Vs Denmark
France is the defending champion of the FIFA World Cup and currently stands at the 4th position in the FIFA World Ranking. With world-class players like Kylian Mbappe, Karim Benzema, Olivier Giroud, and Antoine Griezmann there is no doubt that France is one of the biggest contenders for the World Cup 2022. However, their last few matches might be a matter of concern for them as France has won just one game and has lost three matches with the remaining two matches ending in a draw.

On the other hand, Denmark is currently ranked 10th while having some of the highest-graded players in the squad gives them the opportunity to achieve what they have never achieved in the World Cup. After seeing Denmark’s performance in the Euro 2021, we can clearly say that they are not letting France take the 3 points easily when they meet on 26th November in their Group D’s league stage match.
3. Argentina Vs Mexico
Everyone knows Argentina is in the best form of football ever. They are heading to Qatar as the team that hasn’t faced defeat in the last 36 matches. With a lot of changes in their squad from their 2018 World Cup squad, Argentina seems a more focused, more poised team this year. The 2014’s runner-up didn’t perform well in Russia four years back, however, they are a different team now. They have won the Copa America and are now on a way to bringing the coveted trophy home after more than 3 decades.

While on the other side, Mexico is playing their 17th World Cup and as always they are expected to give tough competition to Argentina in their group stage match. Like Argentina, they also have some good players, including Rodolfo Pizarro, Alfredo Talavera, Miguel Layun, and Carlos Salcedo. Mexico is a balanced team with a solid defense, so we believe it will be hard for Lionel Messi-led Argentina to find the nets in their group stage match that is scheduled to be played on 26th November.
4. Germany Vs Spain
Spain and Germany will play against each other in Group E on November 28. Their game is one of the most anticipated games in the World Cup and it is bound to be one of the most thrilling matches in the group stage in the Qatar World Cup. It is no surprise that both of the teams are very well-balanced and threats to each other. Germany will first play against Japan before playing against Spain. After being eliminated from the group stage in the 2018 World Cup, Germany has shown a remarkable transformation as a team. They were a tough team to beat in the Euro 2021 as well.

Talking about Spain, they are one of the toughest teams to beat in any international tournament. They have some of the best players in the world such as Pedri, Gavi, and Morata. Before playing against Germany, they will be playing against Costa Rica. Speaking of their ranking, they are currently ranked at 7th place in the FIFA World Ranking.
5. Portugal Vs Uruguay
The aren’t many tough group-stage matches in this year’s World Cup. However, Portugal vs Uruguay can be one of the most competitive and thrilling matches in the league round. They haven’t played against a lot of times in the international format, and if we are talking about the World Cup stage, their first and only meet was back in 2018 in the knockout stage where the South American giant defeated Portugal by 2-1. Edinson Cavani scored two goals in that game and sent Portugal to their home.

However, the condition is a little different this year as Portugal has a relatively younger and quicker squad while Uruguay lacks youth players in the attack. It might be beneficial for Portugal and we anticipate Portugal to win this match with ease. However, no match in the World Cup can be taken for granted. And with the presence of experienced Cavani, Godin, Suarez, and young sensations like Fernando Muslera, Ronald Araujo, Rodrigo Bentancur, and Valverde, the match against Uruguay won’t be a cakewalk for Portugal for sure.
